Basic Rules:
The below mentioned mandatory rules will be followed for the 'Super Cricket Championship' games along with the ICC rules:
- ZERO LIABILITY POLICY: The Captains and the players of all the teams participating in this championship should acknowledge that the organizers are NOT LIABLE for any injuries sustained (due to any reason) during the course of the Championship.
- DISCIPLINE POLICY: Any match related issues should be brought up to the organizers by the captain(s) or umpire(s). Since the disciplinary rules are not discussed and finalized yet, the organizers will determine the nature and extent of the issue and the warning/penalty associated with it.
- Each game is for 25 overs per side with mandatory breaks at 10 and 18.
- A bowler can bowl a maximum of 5 overs in a 25 overs game.
- First 5 overs are mandatory for power play in which only 3 players can field outside the 30 yards circle. Next set of 5 overs for power play will be called by the fielding captain anytime they want before 21st over. After 20th over the second power will be mandatory if not already called by the fielding captain.
- 3 players including at least 1 on the off side (in addition to the bowler and wicket-keeper) are required to be inside the circle at all times.
- The two team’s captain will be responsible for making sure that the score card is accurate and complete at the end of each game. Since we do not have an independent scorer, therefore the team scorecard is the only official scorecard. The captains will be responsible to make sure that the score is correct throughout the game by consulting each other at the end of each over.
- It will be the responsibility of the Captain of the winning team to enter both the scorecards accurately before the end of the following Sunday to avoid the penalty of losing 2 points with no exception unless the organizers are notified of any problem(s). The losing team Captain will be responsible to verify the accuracy of the scorecards entered and email his confirmation to the organizers so the organizers can lock the scorecards. Once the scorecards are locked no changes will be allowed.
- Main umpire will be always neutral while the leg umpire will be from the batting side. Main umpire can overrule all the decisions by the leg umpire but the run out decision at the batting end. Both umpires will be neutral for the semi-finals and the final. In case of any discrepancy while both umpires are neutral, both umpires will have to consult before making a final decision.
- The batting Captain will have to change the leg umpire if asked by the Main Umpire.
- 6 players should be on the field from the fielding team to start a game.
- Only 1 league player (i.e. who has played more than 5 hard ball games in last 6 months during Summer or Winter league) will be allowed by each team in a game. Any winning team having 2 or more league players (knowingly or unknowingly playing) in a game will not be awarded 2 points instead the 2 points will be awarded to the losing team.
- Upto 2 new non-league players will be allowed to participate in the knock out games. Rest of the players playing in the knock out matches should have at least played 1 game of the group matches.
- Only players with full white/off white dress will be allowed to play in all the games. No shorts will be allowed in any circumstances.
- No leg byes are allowed so no run out will be given once the main umpire declares a leg bye.
- Any batsman with a runner cannot leave the batting crease at anytime. In case the batsman leaves the crease, he can only be run out at the batting end.
- Player can participate in the game at any time as long as they show up before the end of 1st innings and the umpire was notified of that player before the start of the game.
- Every team member should always respect Umpire’s decision.
- Only Captains of the playing teams reserve the right to discuss any issue(s) with the umpire(s) in a respectful manner. This rule is very important to follow since all of us will have to umpire in one game or other.
- In case of inclement weather or delayed start of game, the number of overs will be decided by the umpires, and captains of the teams involved.
- The minimum number of overs for an official championship game cannot be less than 15.
- The milestone for comparing scores for an incomplete 2nd innings game (i.e number of overs bowled is less than number of overs decided at the start of the match) will set at 15, 18, 20 and 22 overs depending on how many overs are bowled in the 2nd innings. The milestone closest to the number of overs bowled will be consider for any comparison.
- In case a match is abandoned due to any reason, NO attempt will be made to replay the match for all round(group) matches, points will be split between the two teams. For a quarter-final match, two attempts will be made to replay the match. On the third attempt if the match needs to be reschedule then the points will be split between the two teams. Semi-finals and final will be reschedule until the game is played.
- Most important, we should all play the game in the best spirit and respect each other and all should work hard to take this tournament to next level.
- Umpiring assignments should be taken very seriously. Umpire coming after the scheduled start time of a game will not be entitled for the umpiring fee. Cancellation or no show up in an umpiring assignment will cost $50 to the captain and two(2) points of the responsible team. That team will not be scheduled to play further in the tournament until the dues are paid.
- Bowling action deemed to be throwing by the Neutral Umpire (in coordination with the leg-umpire, if necessary) will result in a no-ball being called, AND a warning to the bowler and his Captain. Second such instance in the same game will result in a second and final warning (in addition to a no-ball being called). Third such instance in the same game by the same bowler will result in the bowler being disqualified for bowling in that game, and his over will be completed by another bowler who has not bowled the previous over.
- The playing teams will be responsible for bringing accessories related to the cricket game (i.e boundary cones, keeping gloves, 3 stumps and 2 bails, chalk and etc.). Each team is responsible for picking up their inning balls from the Organizer(s).
- In an event when a player from fielding side leaves the field due to any reason and comes back to field after 'x' number of overs bowled, the player will have to wait the amount of overs that he sat out before he can bowl in the innings. Also if any player comes late after the game has begun, the same rule will be implemented.
- Complete and accurate scorecard should be enter by the winning team no later than 10 PM following Monday. If the scorecard is not entered by then, the scorecard will be locked and 2 winning points will be awarded to the losing team and individaul/team stats. will be erased for each team.
- Batsmen retired due to any reason can come back to bat again anytime after the fall of 1 wicket.
- There will be only 1 mandatory break, after 12 overs to save time during the short days of winter.
- We should request to add names of the new players before the game or at the latest by 8 PM, the same day the game was held. Otherwise no new names will be added for the game and the person entering will choose any name from the available list provided that name is not already entered.
- If team walkoff the field because of disagreement on umpire decision, they have forfitted the game and 2 points will be awarded to other playing team.
- Accusing Organizer of being biased:
Accusing any Organizer of being biased during any game will be taken most seriously. The team accusing the Organizer will be asked to provide evidence to support their allegation by the Disciplinary Committee. To solve this special accusation the 'Disciplinary Committe' will include all the Captains/Manager as well as the 'Organizing Committee'. If the Organizer being accused is found guilty, then he will be taken out of the 'Organizing Committee'. And, if the accusing team couldn't provide the evidence then the accusing team will be penalized by 2 points and any further repeat of same accusation will ban them from the current and the future tournaments organized by SCL. - Umpiring fee will be paid by the 2 teams playing the game.
- NO FOUL LANGUAGE DURING THE COURSE OF ANY GAME IN SCL REGARDLESS WHO THESE COMMENTS OR LANGUAGE ARE DIRECTED TO.
- Obstructing fielders while catching is not allowed.
- The decision of not playing the game due to weather conditions or playing conditions will only be decided on the ground among two captains and the umpire unless it has been announced by the organizers and the captains and the umpire has been notified.
- SCL has right to cancel or reschedule any game.
- Rainout games: If a team has more then 2 (Two) washed out games per tournament, their 3 rd washed out game will be rescheduled after we finished published schedule. This regardless who the team who the effected team is playing with.
